Artist Statement:

City birds came about after encountering a pigeon in my studio in Brooklyn, and then several more pigeons roosting in an exhibition installation site. The original format with pigeons, starlings and sparrows on arranged on sconces was based on Meissen porcelain birds from the 1700s in a period room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
