Amy Morken Artist Statement:

My paintings are tangled vignettes. Before planting roots in New York City, I moved tons, falling into new situations frequently and creating a lifelong curiosity of strangers. I work in an impromptu style, drawing and painting quickly, stepping back to eyeball and finish by adding details, dressing the subjects. My primary influences are contemporary culture, comfortable accessories, awkward posture and overheard conversations.
